LinguaTomo is local-first. An account only ever adds backup.

The short version

Without an account, LinguaTomo collects nothing at all, everything lives on your device. If you choose to sign in, we store only your email address (for passwordless sign-in) and a copy of your learning progress, so it can follow you to another device. There are no ads, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and nothing is ever sold.

What stays on your device

Without signing in, everything LinguaTomo knows about you stays on your device (Hive local storage on Android/iOS, browser storage on the web). This includes vocabulary, kana, kanji and grammar progress, streaks and XP, achievement and Nest collection state, handwriting practice scores, and app preferences. The app is offline-first: it works fully without an internet connection.

Photos you capture for handwriting grading are processed on-device for text recognition (Google ML Kit) and are never uploaded anywhere by LinguaTomo.

If you create an account

Signing in is optional and uses a passwordless email link (no password is ever set or stored). If you sign in:

• Your email address is held by our authentication provider, Supabase, solely to send sign-in links and identify your account.
• A copy of your learning progress (the same data listed above) is stored in a Supabase database so it can sync across your devices.
• If you choose to join the optional achievement board, your chosen nickname, achievement count and XP become visible to other learners who also joined. Your email address is never shown to anyone.

Supabase acts strictly as our infrastructure provider for this optional feature. We do not share your data with any other third party, and we never use it for advertising.

What we don't do

• No advertising, no ad networks or advertising identifiers.
• No analytics or behavioural tracking inside the app itself.
• No selling or renting of personal data, to anyone, ever.
• No public community features, direct messaging, or user-generated content today.

Children

LinguaTomo's content is family-friendly and suitable for learners of all ages, but the app is not directed primarily at children, and account sign-in is not designed for use by children without a parent or guardian's involvement. Core learning always works fully without creating an account.

Deleting your data

You can remove everything stored in your account at any time from Account & Sync → Delete my cloud data inside the app. This immediately deletes your synced progress and profile from our database and signs you out; your local, on-device learning is untouched and keeps working offline.

To also delete your sign-in identity (your email record) entirely, email astraiva.apps@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, and we will remove it, typically within a few days.

If you never created an account, there is nothing to delete on our side, clearing the app's local data or uninstalling removes everything.

Third-party services

Where LinguaTomo touches the outside world, it uses established platforms rather than our own infrastructure:

• Supabase, provides optional account authentication and progress sync, described above.
• App stores, Google Play and the App Store distribute the app. Your store account and purchase details are handled by those platforms.
• Google's CanvasKit CDN (web version only), the web build fetches its graphics engine from Google's servers on first load, which may log your IP address under Google's privacy policy. The app itself does not use Google Fonts or any font CDN.

Changes to this policy

If LinguaTomo's data practices change, this page will be updated first, with a new effective date, before the app changes. Last updated August 2026.
